Mad Men Season 1

I have just started watching Mad Men season 1 and I love the concept !



It describes an advertising agency in the 1960s, NYC whereby the story revolves around Don Draper a creative director in the firm and the people in and out of his lives. He has a hand in helping to come up with a new slogon, tagline for products out in the market.

What I love about the show? I love the props that was shown such as the old style typewriter, the old style advertising printout etc. Of course who can forget about the vintage clothing’s, the 1960s oldies music that they played throughout the show ! I'm not surprise the drama won several Emmy's.

The only downside ? It encourages smoking and adultery.... 90 percent of the cast are featured lighting up a cigarette in a single episode. The next scene would show the mistress and a married guy up to no good. I guess that is the theme of the show since the 1960s of American society and culture encourages cigarette smoking, drinking, feminism, adultery and racism.

One of the most memorable conversation from the show:

Advertising Guy: Which lipstick colour did you like?

Secretary: I didn't get the one I like. Someone took my colour

Advertising Guy: Why didn't you choose another one?

Secretary: I'm very particular.

Secretary: As opposed to the other girls?

Secretary: I don't know. I don't think anyone wants to be one of a hundred colours in a box.
